At Lyon Court, we are passionate about protecting the environment and we are helping Plastic Free Shanklin gain accreditation from Surfers Against Sewerage, with Dan becoming the inaugural Treasurer.

We actively encourage our guests to help us to recycle as much as possible to minimise what we send to landfill. 

Since 2018, we have provided each apartment with separate receptacles for plastics/glass/metals, paper and food waste in line with the Island's strategy for recycling. In 2020/21 we will be installing a composter so that we can recycle all of our own food waste ourselves and use the compost for our gardens.

Plastic Free Shanklin carries out regular beach and town cleans.  If you would like to help, either directly or by donating, please let us know and we will be happy to get you involved!   We are 100% sure that the Island's beaches would not be as clean as you find them if it was not for the work the Plastic Free Shanklin does.
