Lyon Court

Lyon Court is a beautiful Victorian house in a countryside setting, tastefully converted into individual apartments.  It overlooks Shanklin Down, yet is close to bus & train routes, and only 10 minutes walk to Shanklin Old Village or 15 minutes walk to the beach.

The Garden Apartment:  

This has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and takes up the entire storey at garden level. With the ceiling height in excess of eight feet in most rooms, stylish dimmable LED downlights throughout and large windows and doors, it makes for a very bright, airy apartment. There is underfloor heating with porcelain, vintage wood effect floor tiling throughout, giving it a Mediterranean feel.

The kitchen is equipped with a family sized fridge/freezer, a range cooker with two ovens, a grill and an induction hob with five burners, a full sized dishwasher and a dedicated wine cooler which is perfect when catering for eight people!

We were unable to buy a kettle that would make eight cups of tea at once, so we have installed a Grohe instant boiling water system in the kitchen so that everyone can have their morning tea/coffee at the same time.

The dining area has a large table and seating for everyone with a large chandelier above. There are French doors that open out on to the South facing terrace overlooking the gardens and pool. 

The lounge area is equipped with a 49" smart flatscreen TV and comfy seating for when you fancy chilling out. Guests are able to connect to their Netflix/Amazon Prime accounts from the TV too.

A wireless access point has also been installed, giving a fast wifi connection throughout the whole apartment and on the terrace.

With regards to accessibility, there are 8 steps down to the Garden Apartment from the car park at the front of house, then the apartment is all on the same level.

The Garret:

This apartment is situated on the first floor, away from the main building with aspects to the south, west & east. 

The family room (newly refurbished in 2018) incorporates the fully equipped kitchen with full size oven/grill and induction hob, microwave oven, dishwasher, full sized tower fridge freezer, large toaster, kettle and all pots, pans and utensils that you might need. The dining area comfortably seats 6 and there is additional comfortable seating to watch the huge 49' smart TV connected to our satellite system that is Netflix/Amazon ready.

A wireless access point has also been installed, giving a fast wifi connection throughout the whole apartment and on the terrace.

This bright and airy double aspect room has a southerly view along the side of the house to the gardens and pool; it also overlooks the terrace, and benefits from the evening sun.

We have allocated a large 42sqm terrace adjacent to the Garret for the sole use of Garret guests, embellished by tropical plants, with garden furniture for al fresco dining.

Please note The Garret sleeps 6 people and 2 of these beds are bunk beds, so ideal for 4 adults and 2 children. Additionally a cot can be provided for a baby but the total occupancy must not exceed 6.

The Old Stable:

The Old Stable is (as the name suggests) a stable converted into a studio apartment. Set in the secluded gardens of Lyon Court, it benefits from its own discrete south facing patio.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full sized oven and hob, a vintage Bosch fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, with ample cupboard space, pots, pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The living area is well designed for either a couple or up to 3 guests (where at least one guest must be a child).  There is a daybed, a double bed and a table for up to three. There is also a 28" Smart TV connected to our satellite system that is Netflix/Disney/Amazon ready.

A wireless access point has also been installed, giving a fast wifi connection throughout the whole apartment and on the terrace.  A cot can also be accommodated if you really can't get away on your own!

With regard to accessibility, you can park on the same level as the Old Stable and there are no steps at all.

Please note whilst the website does not allow date selection, short breaks are available in The Old Stable in the Summer season. Please contact direct if you are interested in a short break of 3 nights or more during this time.

The Cedar Tree Apartment:

Brand new in 2020, this is a spacious first floor apartment taking up the west side of the main building. It benefits from dual aspect to the front and rear of the house. The lounge and kitchen look out to the front of the house with all three bedrooms overlooking the gardens to the rear and a large Cedar tree where you can often see red squirrels, woodpeckers and other local fauna.   

The kitchen/diner benefits from a fully equipped kitchen with American Fridge Freezer with ice and cold water dispenser, a range cooker with induction hob, microwave oven, full size dishwasher, coffee capsule machine, toaster, kettle and all crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils that you might need. 

The dining area comfortably seats 8 and there is a 32” smart TV in case the kids are hogging the larger TV in the lounge!  

The lounge is equipped with a 65” Smart TV that is Netflix etc ready with comfy sofas to chill out on after those long days on the beach.  

With regard to accessibility, there are 20 steps up to the apartment, then it is all on the same level.

We have allocated a South facing terrace to the rear of the property overlooking the gardens for the sole use of guests staying in this apartment, complete with garden furniture for al fresco dining.

Towel hire, so you have space in your luggage for the fun things

If booking for 7 or more nights  a towel set per person is included in the cost of your holiday. If your stay is less than 7 nights, towel sets are available, £5 per person and  will need to be booked in advance. A set consists of a bath towel, a pool towel and a hand towel.

Parking:

Free parking is available for 2 cars for all flats except the Old Stable, where you only need one.  Please use the add ons when booking, if you need to bring additional vehicles and we will let you know if additional parking is available. 

Ferries:

We can also arrange discounted ferry crossings when you stay with us. Please let us know at the time of booking and we will obtain prices for your crossings

Things to Do:

If you provide us with the ages and interests of your children at the time of booking, we can put together a package of things to do on the island, tailored to your children.  We have 3 children of our own, so we know how important it is to keep them busy on holiday!  We have extensive knowledge of the attractions and activities on the island and we will also know about smaller, local events that you might otherwise miss.
