cycling and walking

There are hundreds of miles of interesting walking and cycling routes across the Isle of Wight which immerse you in some of the most beautiful landscapes the island has to offer.

With rugged coastal walks, enchanting forest trails and miles of diverse beaches to explore, the best way to discover the Isle of Wight’s many hidden treasures is on foot or by bicycle.

Within an area of just 147 square miles, half of which has been designated “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” (AONB), The Isle of Wight offers walkers and cyclists over 500 miles of dedicated cycle paths, many following disused (reasonably flat) railway lines, scenic bridleways and breathtaking coastal paths as an alternative to the busy island road network

The Island's wild natural beauty, landscape and coastline offers fantastic experiences of dramatic cliffs, long sandy beaches, hidden coves and quiet estuaries, which are a haven for wildlife, a gently rolling patchwork of fields with secretive woodlands, open chalk downs with spectacular views across the Islands countryside and coastline.
